Do you hide your emotions?

Recently I watched a short YouTube video about how we all tend to hide our emotions. I would share the link but I have no idea what the address was. Why do we sometimes hide our emotions? Is it because society and possibly childhood has conditioned us not to show some emotions as they are perceived as being bad for us.This video really struck a cord with me as I have in the past and still sometimes now store my emotions deep inside me. Why I ask myself? Possibly because if I don't acknowledge them they don't really exist or are a problem. We have five natural emotions and it is entirely natural to experience them.

GRIEF - Grief is an emotion that surfaces when saying goodbye when you don't want to.
It's a very natural emotion. But when grief is repressed it is transformed into depression.
You control GRIEF,
DEPRESSION controls you.

ANGER - Is a natural emotion to express and it never has to be threatening
or hurtful to anyone. But when anger is repressed it is transformed into rage.
You control ANGER
RAGE controls you.

ENVY - Is what inspires us when we see someone exceeding.
It's what drives us to climb to the top and be the best we can be.
It's a very natural emotion to express but if we repress envy it can transform to jealousy.
You control ENVY
JEALOUSY controls you.

All of these emotions stem from FEAR which is also a very natural emotion to experience. Our fear emotion is our protective instinct. Fears need to be faced and expressed. Fear is an expression of LOVE. Love for ourselves or love for others. LOVE is our highest emotion.

The key isn't to stop feeling, the key is to start.

Feathers from my Mum

Does anyone feel they get a sign from a loved one who has passed? My Mum left me on a chilly November back in 2007 at 11.11pm. Whenever I see a feather in an unusual place I always know my Mum is with me. And I do see them in some unusual places!! Once I stepped out of the car at a petrol station and this little feather seemed to be following me. As I walked away from this little feather to the other side of the car, I said to myself "OK if this little feather blows under the car to me and touches me I will believe Mum is here with me". Guess what happened next? The little feather blew under the car and touched my little toe. Go figure!!
Feathers I have collected from around Australia that have confronted me in unusual places
Another feather incident that was totally "in my face" was while I was staying at my son Shane's house in Batemans Bay. I was walking through a shopping centre with Shane (partner not son) and my grandson O'Shea. O'Shea spotted a little feather and walked over and plonked his foot on top of it. I didn't take a huge amount of notice until moments later as we walked along a little feather drifted down from the ceiling in front of my face. Now that one made me take a little bit more notice! With that we left the shopping centre and headed out to the riverfront to get some freshly cooked chips. When we returned to the shopping centre some 20 minutes later a very intriguing sight confronted us! As we walked down the corridor we were amazed to see thousands of little feathers on the floor. WTF!! OK I am taking notice now!! I know there are people who will say "That's rubbish, it's just a coincidence". Maybe, but I still believe it's Mum say "I love you and I'm here with you".

Mind, Body, Spirit

This little one armed girl has had a wonderful long weekend here in Melbourne. Sunday I had the joy of catching up and lunch with two great long time friends Kaye and Helen. I just love catching up with friends you have history with it really makes life easy.

Then today I took myself off to the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival. This is probably the sixth year I have been to this wonderful festival. Each visit I usually wander aimlessly taking in all the sights, sounds and smells. But today I decided I wanted to have a couple of readings and to also have a Spirit Guide drawing done. My readings went very well, giving me insights into me and my future, which I totally agreed with.

Apparently today I had two spirit guides with me. The one that was drawn for me was known as Takoma, a Native Indian with his elegant eagle. I'm really looking forward to finding him the perfect place in my home.

I am sitting here now pretty tired as this is the busiest I have been since having my shoulder surgery, but satisfied on my really enjoyable weekend.

Esperance Stonehenge ??

Yes you read right Esperance Stonehenge.
In 2009 the Australasian Granite Company were commissioned to sculpture and complete Stonehenge for a client in Margaret River, WA. After 12 months the project was in trouble due to financial problems for the initial owner. In stepped the now owners Kim and Jillian Beale. With 6weeks of quarrying work to be completed they took on the project with the last stone being place at 3.15pm on 26 October 2011.
FACTS
  • It is a full size replica of the original "Stonehenge" in the UK, as it would have looked around 1950BC.
  • 137 stones of Esperance pink granite quarried adjacent to the Beale's property, in Esperance, WA.
  • The 10 Trilithon Stones in a horseshoe pattern weigh between 38 - 50 tonnes each, standing with the 18 tonne lintels to a height of 8 metres.
  • Inside the Trilithon horseshoe stands another Horseshoe of 19 Blue Stones.
  • The Trilithon Stones are surrounded by a circle of 30 Sarsen Stones weighing 28 tonnes each and standing almost 5 metres high including the 7 tonne lintels on top.
  • Positioned between the Sarsen Circle and the Trilithon Stones is a full circle of 40 smaller stones, referred to as the Bluestone Circle.
  • The Altar Stone weighs 9 tonne and lies in front of the tallest Trilithon Stones.
  • The structure is aligned with the Summer Solstice Sunrise -Esperance time. The Station Stones are positioned on this line to allow the sun rays to pass through to the Altar. The summer solstice is the longest day of the year (22nd December). The sunset on the winter solstice (which is the shortest day of the year - 21 June). This is the same line as the Summer Solstice Sunrise.

Prior to actually seeing this replica Stonehenge I thought it might be a bit tacky. But I was definitely wrong and also very pleasantly surprised. This structure is very impressive and has a bit of a spiritual feel about it. I would definitely recommend paying it a visit.

Lake Grace to Wave Rock

Anyone who follows me on facebook would be aware that I am in a group (a very large group) that follow a fun challenge to take a  Photo a Day according to a certain prompt given to us by FatMumSlim. Well today's prompt was "To Do List" so I thought I would share one of the things I had on my to list today. We are now heading towards Kalgoorlie but I really wanted to stop off and stay a couple of nights here to see the amazing Wave Rock. The actual huge rock is called "Hyden Rock and Wave Rock is just a part of it. Wave Rock, a granite cliff is 15 metres high and 110 long. It's rounded like shape has been caused by weathering and water erosion which has undercut the base and left a rounded overhang. In 1960 crystals of the wave from Hyden Rock were dated as being 2700 million years old, amongst the oldest in Australia.
Wave Rock - Amazing!!

Height 15 metres
Also around the base of Hyden Rock is another unusual granite formation called Hippos yawn. The second most visited site is connected to wave Rock by an easy path through the vegetation.

Hippo's Yawn
We also went out to visit Lake Magic. The water of the lake is clear but very salty and the lake base is gypsum which gives the lake a green tinge.

Lake Magic
Our last venture for the day was Mulkas Cave. The name Mulka comes from an Aboriginal Legend believed to be associated with the cave. Mulka was the illegal son of a woman who fell in love with a man whom marriage was forbidden. It was believed that as a result of breaking these rules she bore a son with crossed eyes. Even though he grew to be an outstandingly strong man of colossal height, his crossed eyes prevented him from aiming a spear accurately and becoming a successful hunter. Out of frustration, Mulka turned to catching and eating human children, and he became the terror of the district. It was said that he lived in the cave, where the imprints of his hands can still be seen, much higher than that of an ordinary man. His mother became increasingly concerned about Mulka, and when she scolded him for his anti-social behaviour he turned on his own mother and killed her. This disgraced him even more and he fled his cave, heading south. All the Aboriginal people of the district, outraged by Mulka's behaviour, set out to track down the man who had flouted all rules. They finally caught him near Dumbleyung, 156km from Hyden, where they speared him. Because he did not deserve a proper burial, they left his body to the ants; a grim warning to those who break the law.
Now a strange thing happened in Mulkas cave. I took quite a lot of photos and they all turned out extremely clear all except the two I took of a hollow heading way back into the cave. Not sure what this is or what was going on but I think Mulka may have been trying to tell me something!!

Shane sitting in Mulkas Cave

Just some of the hundreds of hand prints on the walls and ceiling

OK whats going on.
All three of the photos I took of this cave within a cave came out either
like this or totally blurred!!

Myrtles 1st Christmas

Christmas has arrived for our comfy little camper Myrtle.
Tonight she is smiling with all her lights surrounding her.
It's a bit hard to see but she looks really nice

This years Christmas tree is a lot smaller than what I normally have, but I love it.

Today I was reading the holistic magazine Living Now and came across an article that just jumped out at me and I felt I just had to share with you. It was written by Josh Langley, writer, author, illustrator and professional daydreamer. I like that one Professional Daydreamer.

Celebrating The Heart
   - Word and Pic by Josh Langley

Let the randomness of life fill your heart with joy, allow strange and bizarre things to just unfold and celebrate those heart-filled moments where you're moved by spontaneity and a sense of curiosity.
Step out of your "head space" and find the quiet warmth of your heart and you'll notice it's a much more enjoyable place to be. When you're in that space, the fear lessons, the judgement quietens and you're more able to be who you want to be.

Here are some simple ways to celebrate your heart:
Use your imagination: it's how we thrive in the world. Daydream, wonder, be curious, go exploring, go wandering. Don't be afraid to get lost.
Be Creative: express yourself in whatever way you know how. Take cooking classes, paint, draw, write, make a sandcastle, dance like a free range chicken, read a poem to a tree.
Love: fall in love with yourself. Don't go looking for love "out there". Start right here in your own heart and become comfortable in your own skin and mind. Remember to do things that bring you joy and that you love doing. Celebrating the heart is merely learning how to listen to it, trust it and follow it. It can take time; so be gentle on yourself and enjoy the journey.

Transformation

My Medicine Wheel message for December is Transformation. Now I wonder what that means for me? I think maybe my whole life is in the process of transformation. This time of my life is definitely the best I have ever experienced so far. I am the happiest I have ever been, I am the healthiest I have ever been and I feel totally connected to myself and all that is around me. So all I can say is - OK Universe bring it on I am prepared for any transformation you would like to serve up to me.
What will the Transformation be?
There was no touristy stuff happening in my life today, it was all necessary stuff. After being in Melbourne for two weeks the camper cupboards were pretty bare, so it was off to the supermarket to get some supplies.

Way to much money was spent on groceries today!!
Usually around this time of year I am decorating my house with all manner of Christmas decorations. I really love Christmas and don't want to miss out on decorating just because we are in a campervan. So off we went to Bunnings and picked up some solar lights to decorate Myrtle.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... la la la la
We also have finally come across a car wash, which the HiLux was in bad need of. So she is now nice and sparkly clean. For a little while anyway.

Shane got a bit silly with the water and I got drenched..... ha ha very funny Shane!!
