Creatures of habit?

Why are some of us "Creatures Of Habit" and why are some of us not? I'm am definitely NOT a creature of habit - never have been. All my life I have gone out of my way to do something different from those all around me. When I was a teenager I would take great pains not to dress or act the same way as my peers. Not sure why I am like this but I am. Sometimes I wonder if it has to do with me growing up with an unusual - individual name. Maybe I have always wanted to be that unusual / individual person
Are you a creature or habit or not - I'd love to know.

  1. I like to have a routine, but it's a very odd routine, usually! I've always marched to a different (but sweet I hope!) drummer...I think Buddhism fosters that...

  2. I'm a little of both-- Or rather A LOT of routine on some things and A LOT of marching to my own drum on other things. But I'm getting better at "losing the habits" now that I'm retired.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

  3. I was wondering if being an only child has anything to do with that Davine??

I find myself to have routine, not nearly as rigid as it was in the past. Today I will sit up until the wee hours of the morning on my computer whereas in the past years, I NEVER would have done that. I now have gone way out of my usual life and have grown immensely in many areas of my life, returning to educate myself has been one of the best things I could have ever done!

I also often wonder if middle age is a turning point for a lot of us humans, we have had our children (most of us), we now have freedoms to do as we choose in life and some of us grab that opportunity and embrace it.... just another one of my thoughts.

So now after all that, in response to your question, I'd have to say I am a bit of both. I have hung onto some of my ways yet I have let go of so much in order to find myself.

    Have a great Sunday!

  4. Great question and I wonder if Darlin stumbled upon the only child thing having some potency here? I was one and I think it definitely had an impact. I do things MY way - always just a bit off-center but nonetheless staying true to who I am. I am easily bored with the habit routine and try to change things up all the time. It's fun but I must say challenging and exhausting at times! ha!

  5. Ooh, what a good question! I think I have both the habits - because of the kids still being such a big part of my life - and the 'randomness' of flexibility - my time during school hours is for "whatever/whenever". I guess that suits my Gemini personality. LOL.
