Lakeland

Tonight I am updating my blog from a town, albeit very small called “Lakeland” also known as "Lakeland Downs". It is situated about 80kms south of Cooktown and 242kms north of Cairns on the Cape York Peninsula. This so called town consists of a Pub, a Petrol Station, a Coffee Shop, and a Rubbish Tip. Why am I here? Well this is where my son Shane works and spends most weekdays. The house is located on land that’s was once a huge farm property, but now it is still good, but it’s obvious that there are no women here very often. On my way up here I called in to have a look at “Barron Falls” and the market/tourist village “Kuranda”. Both the falls and the village are situated in a beautiful rainforest, with many interesting plants and animals – one being this cool looking spider. It’s hard to gauge its size in this photo but it was quite large.

“Davine Time” update: Doing something I don’t get to do much these days and miss – spending some time with my boy Shane. I must also say I love Skype as I can talk to Rachel each night –
I must admit I am missing her.

  4. That's quite the spider, watch you don't get into it's web! :-)

Sounds like a nice relaxing town, very similar to the one I go to when I go out to the country and it's it just wonderful! The peace and serenity are amazing. I'm sure that you'll find that there as well. It's fantastic you're spending time with your son. Take care Davine!
