Today's "S" word is something I have learned, experienced and loved for the majority of my life. My word today is "Sewing". I started sewing small things at secondary school and it was the only subject I excelled in. I then moved onto making most of my clothes, then when I had Shane and Rachel I made most of their clothes as well. By this stage I was not only sewing clothes but also home furnishings, such as curtains, bedding and cushions. When my marriage broke up I needed to get out there to support my kids so what did I turn to? Yes, my sewing - I started teaching patchwork/quilting at home and also working for a home furnishing store making all of there home furnishing speciality orders. I don't sew to many clothes these days but I still love my sewing machine. I find when I am sitting sewing it is an extremely relaxing time for me. At the moment I am making a cot quilt for a friends beautiful little boy. I will share my creation when I finish it.
I tried to find a photo of something I have sewn and realized I don't have very many, so here is a shot of a couple of wall hangings I was making on a weekend away many years ago - what the hell is with my hair!!
Quilting! I love that. I wish I had the time to really learn how to quilt. I've made a few "tops" but never actually quilted them into blankets.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your current project.
Cheers, jj
LMAO @ your hair comment! Too funny! Sewing I also find is good for the soul. You are so creative and it's awesome that you have the time to do what you love to do in life!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Davine, I didn't realise you were so creative! How gorgeous that you have shared a 'what's with my hair' photo!
